Save Mr. Fan's Community Garden!

75-year-old Saline resident, Changming Fan, has single-handedly transformed a weed-infested area into a beautiful communal garden at his own time and expense.

After over 10 years of gardening, his landlord Mill Pond Manor (owned by the Retirement Housing Foundation MPM/RHF) has decided that the garden needs to go and plans on bulldozing it this April.  â€‹

This website provides information on Mr. Fan's Community Garden and ways to get involved to help save it.

The Mission

We are dedicated to stopping Mill Pond Manor from bulldozing Mr Fan’s Community Garden.

Mr. Fan is a 75-year-old retiree who has lived and gardened at Mill Pond Manor in Saline, Michigan in peace for over the last decade. Although this land belongs to MPM/RHF, Mr. Fan has singlehandedly transformed the space from a poison ivy infested area into a scenic pass time for all MPM/RHF residents.

Due to a change in management, MPM/RHF intends to bulldoze over Mr. Fan's garden this spring.

We are committed to saving this garden and all of Mr. Fan's hard work and dedication in cultivating it. Beyond Mr. Fan's individual passsions, this garden encourages MPM/RHF residents—primarily aging individuals—to spend more time outside, enjoy the beauties of nature, and connect with their neighbors.
